The City of Milan and Viafarini present at the Fabbrica del Vapore an exhibition that gives space to artists from the Archivio Viafarini, who took part in the residency programme in Milan, to build a reflection on the city, its limits and boundaries.
On show are relational works, videos, installations, photographs and editorial projects developed by artists and researchers investigating the city. A project by Viafarini, curated by Giulio Verago, curator of VIR Viafarini-in-residence.
The exhibition is divided into several sections: La Fabbrica del Vapore as a place of production; Corvetto as a socio-cultural workshop: The new city boundaries; Cities at the centre; Performance projects; Editorial reconnaissance in relational art.

Artist and lecturer Markus Lauterbach and Senza Veli sulla Lingua produce an augmented reality performance installation for the Fabbrica del Vapore on the theme of combating gender-based violence. Senza Veli sulla Lingua is a social promotion association that has been working to combat gender violence for over ten years, offering a series of free services to victims of violence throughout Italy.

Rap music is the voice of young people in the neighbourhood, interpreting their stories, experiences and desires. During the opening, the young people will perform some tracks from their new album N.I.E.N.T.E. This album was created during the rap writing workshop 'Up to You', led by rapper Kiave with the support of Gigi Tufariello, thanks to the commitment of the Formattart Association, an association that has been offering artistic projects to young people for years, particularly in the Corvetto district, and in the Milan area. As a visual artist, Baukje Spaltro shares the stage with local artists, particularly in Corvetto, and has been fascinated by the energy of young rappers.
Wednesday 22 May, 6 p.m.
The artist Pierluigi Slis and CubeArt produce for the Piazzale della Fabbrica the performative and relational action Daddy Shake, curated by Chiara Canali, which through role-playing addresses the issue of balancing parental roles post-separation in the contemporary family. CubeArt, founded by Ana María Pedroso Guerrero, proposes art as a language capable of promoting intercultural exchange.
Section dedicated to recent publications on the subject of participatory and relational art by: Giacomo Zaganelli 12x12 Laboratorio Soccorso, Pasquale Campanella - Wurmkos Coabitare l'isola Public space and care of places, Elena Cologni Towards a Feminist Care Aesthetics, Ugo La Pietra La Città senza Morale, Connecting Cultures Lo spazio delle Relazioni, Ministero della Cultura - DG Creatività Contemporanea Art and public space, Cecilia Guida and Roberto Pinto Le relazioni oltre le immagini Approcci teorici e pratiche dell'arte pubblica, Michele Robecchi Arte pubblica Milano, Nabuurs & VanDoorn Greyzones, Catherine Barnabé Memories of Space - Espace de Passage, Francesca Cognetti, Daniela Gambino, Jacopo Lareno Faccini Periferie del cambiamento - traiettorie di rigenerazione tra marginalità e innovazione a Milano. There is also an opportunity to valorise the theses on urban regeneration and artistic mobility by researchers Marta Bracci, Silvia Gandolfo, Camilla Mantovani.
