Viafarini DOCVA and Careof DOCVA present the third edition of Helicotrema, Recorded Audio Festival curated by Blauer Hase. It is a five-day festival that will present a program of recorded audio pieces with the elements of a film festival: a space-time dedicated to timeline-based audio formats. The festival will be hosted at Viafarini DOCVA and Careof DOCVA, as well as at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, at the Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano and at ONEOFF and with the collaboration of RAI Radio3 for the transmission of some pieces.

The will of the project is to investigate the status of a certain space-time dedicated to the gathering of an audience in order to listen to a recorded audio piece. Such formats share numerous features with classical radio plays. Since television began to spread within the domestic environment, radio transmissions, such as the radio play and the different genres linked to it - from theater to radio radiofilm - have lost their audience and moments of collective listening have gradually disappeared.

Helicotrema moves from the observation that, in the field of contemporary art and – to some extent – of contemporary theatre, the last decade has witnessed a gradual comeback of interest in the forms of audio plays, audio dramas, audio documentaries and various kinds of timeline-based formats based only on an acoustic component.

Helicotrema C.O.D.A., a special closing event, will take place 21 September at Villa (Via Brozzoni 7, Brescia). Every day, at Careof DOCVA and Viafarini DOCVA, four freely listenable playlists
are curated by Anna Cestelli Guidi, Simone Frangi, RWM - Ràdio Web MACBA and *DUUU / Unités Radiophoniques Mobiles.

Blauer Hase is a collective founded in Venice in 2007 by Mario Ciaramitaro, Riccardo Giacconi, Giulia Marzin, Daniele Zoico, with the aim of proposing experimental forms of cultural production and experience.

In collaboration with Careof DOCVA, Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano, Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, O', Oneoff.
Media partners: Rai Radio 3, Nero.
